This Nakshatra is owned by the fiery planet Mangala (Mars). This Nakshatra spans from 23°20' in Makara (Capricorn) to 6°40' in Kumbha (Aquarius). While the first half of this Nakshatra falls in the sign Makara (Capricorn), the other half falls in the sign Kumbha (Aquarius). Though both these signs are owned by the same Graha (planet), Shani (Saturn), the characteristics of both these signs differ. Accordingly, the results seen in case of a person born in the Nakshatra Dhanistha with Makara (Capricorn) as the sign will be different form the person born in Dhanishta with Kumbha (Aquarius) as the sign.

People born in this Nakshatra are lean and tall, with good ability to resist contagious diseases. Females born in this Nakshatra always look younger than their actual age. Normally, period from 24th years of age onwards will show progress in the earning field. Since he will be engaged in the profession or trade where he has to trust others, he should be very very careful before putting trust on others.
